Believing in yourself and the reasons as to why you want to lose weight is truly the first step you should be doing before starting a weight loss plan. When you decide to lose weight you will find lots of information about what works and what does not. One program may say that you must eat only foods from their specific food-line and another program may recommend that you include supplements. The truth is that depending on the program that you choose you will need to follow some guidelines. But I can assure you that while special foods, exercise and supplements may be a part of the program they are not required in order to lose weight. It first starts in the mind!
What is required is a real desire to lose the fat and a plan that works for you. I know that I am over simplifying here but do not worry, I will explain more. First of all you need to have a true reason to lose the weight. It should be more than the fact that you think you would look better.
Most of us need something to really smack us in the face before it hits home. This might be seeing a photo that makes us look bad, finding out that our weight is affecting our health, or seeing old friends and being embarrassed. Trust me I’ve been there! Well, you get the idea, the situation is different for different people but the effect is the same. The person comes to the realization that losing weight is very important to him or her.
So once you come to this decision it is then important that you decide on a plan or program that will work for you. As I said before, special foods, supplements and exercise do not have to be part of the program.
It is true however that exercise will boost your efforts by increasing your metabolism rate and helping you to build muscle and to tone up as you lose the excess pounds. So adding some exercise is a good idea.
Supplements can insure that you are getting all the nutrients needed but if you are eating as you should be they are not necessary. As far as special foods, they are not necessary but they do add a convenience factor.
But even if you add the foods, the supplements and exercise, if you do not believe in yourself you will fail. You will give up when the going gets tough. And believe me; with any worthwhile venture there will always be times that are difficult. Your strength will come from the belief you have in yourself and that is what will pull you through those hard times!
